Why is anyone against population control?
My guess - it's a knee jerk reaction - bred in by years of religious twaddle.
Logical people - like some scientists - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/...mate-alarm - are calling for shrinking the population to mitigate human impact on the environment
The mythologies of antiquity were started in an age when our species population was vastly smaller. And even before human written tradition, and even after, the mortality rate in our species was far higher, so evolution drove our species to reproduce as much as possible. The problem is humans are still stuck in that mindset today. Old habits die hard.
More scientific minded humans today are less likely to buy into the reproduction mythology of antiquity.
It is absolutely true that the world birth rate is severely outpacing our worldwide death rate. More humans means a need for more resource, and faster consumption of resources, and long term, that drives up costs, on top of creating more conflict over resources.
Our species WORLDWIDE does need to slow down reproduction.
