From another angle entirely...any existent god (that we're assuming isn't an evil god, for reasons) - looking at what people do with their god beliefs...would very much prefer that we didn't.
Obviously that doesn't follow if we posit that god just fucking loves what people do with god beliefs. It's a real popcorn muncher down here.
