Was the star of Bethlehem a real astronomical event?

The 'star' was just a sign. Stars or constellations don't exert influence over us, as astrology claims, so mentioning astrology in connection with this is just unneccessary as I'm sure you know.

The 'star' was real. Thank you Nasa for confirming it. Tongue

As usual, what any given person may believe is not necessarily an accurate representation of reality. A year is a big deal. We have no idea when (or even if) jesus was ever born. Apparently your star doesn't have quite the predictive power you imagine it does, since there's still no consensus on this.

A "sign", you mean like Leo or Scorpio..hangs head. Mentioning astrology is perfectly within the realm of the discussion, since that's exactly what we're talking about here. Those that wrote the OT believed in astrology (as they made plainly clear in genesis) and those that wrote the NT still held that belief. Magical demi-god kings deserve magical herald stars.

Stars are real, consider that confirmed...lol.
