If a god created the universe (that is everything that exists) then where was he/it before he created everything?

Fact is all things HAVE been created- otherwise there would be nothing but un-organized matter.
On the contrary, matter is subject to the laws of physics and chemistry and those laws drive matter to become organized.
For example, large clouds of gas (light years across) will condense under the action of gravity, forming more organized stars.
There are a great many physical systems that will spontaneously organize, usually dirven by some sort of energy
difference between their initial state and their final state, although systems that are far from equilibrium also
tend to show large scale organization.
No consciousness is required for this to happen: it comes from the fact that matter is interactive with other matter,
not inert. Any chemistry class can convince you this is the case.
