I have been there....

St Paul Alaska. 1979. We went in this dump - the only native bar in town - beer only... The place was full of natives sotted beyond belief - falling down drunk. No exaggeration....

I looked around and commented to my shipmates - "It's the bar from Star Wars".

The name stuck.


The natives (who had yet to see the movie) put up a sign to that effect....
