YOU do not get to retrofit definitions or science and reach back in time and claim anyone in antiquity had any modern understanding. It doesn't work when you do it, or when a Christian does it, or when a Jew does it, or when a Hindu or Buddhist do it. AND TRUST ME, I've been online debating religion for almost 20 years and have debated the fallacy of mixing science and religion with every major religion's followers and they all pull this bad logic.
Calm down, pal. Muhammad said the plague doesn't happen in Medina, and guess what ? It really doesn't happen. The end. Credits to Muhammad, shame on atheists.
I didn't claim Muhammad had some "modern understanding", he knew no more than any other man in his time, and the content of what's purpotedly revealed to him, which deals mostly with theology and social issues. And the few things that somewhat deal with science and the understanding of the world- quite a lot actually if we take both the qur'an and the hadiths into account - were free from error, and some of them are quite impressive, such as the ones cited in this thread.
And one more thing, there is no "mixing science with religion" involved, Muhammad predicted that certain events won't happen, like the plague entering Medina, this is not really science.

So what..? This doesn't explain away these prophecies. Why would someone who knows he's lying pinpoint one city and predict the plague doesn't enter it? Why would he even think of telling this ?
There was NOTHING scientifically "predictive" about the Koran, or Bible or Jewish OT.
Mo was simply a mere man, with no magic powers to see into the future.
Climatology, is a predictive science. Archeology is a academic science. Astrophysics also a predictive science. Theology isn't a science.
AGAIN, the ancient Greeks, ancient Romans and ancient Egyptians also had holy people humans believed had predictive powers. "Prophet" is simply the same word as "Soothsayer" "Seer" or "Oracle."
Mo merely created a new religion, nothing more.
And even if a man named Jesus had existed, he too would have still just been a mere mortal.
AND, if you spend time online researching the oldest known mythologies of the first Buddha, that mythology has him magically being born out of the side of Queen Maya, and the "divine word" told her she would give birth to a boy who would bring wisdom to the world.
And even with the first claimed Buddha, depending on sect of Buddhism, you will get different claims about his lineage and birthplace. So it will very as to which Buddhist website you go to. The real truth of even Buddhism, is that a man, or group of people got tired of the old Hindu ways and wanted their own new religion to replace Hinduism.
AGAIN, the Koran is simply a re organized copy of the Bible. The Bible was an attempt to correct Jewish laws. But even the earliest Jews were polytheists who simply wanted to streamline the Canaanite religion they spun from.
