My deconversion was such a slow process (about 15 years from first doubts) that it wasn't traumatic at all; but my family is highly religious and if I were in your situation I would have had to keep it to myself. Fortunately in the USA all I have to worry about is near-constant reconversion attempts by certain family members when I visit them--which is why I rarely visit them. Welcome to our forum, Suz!
