In mere reality, he lost the pop vote by a greater margin than any other us president. The deficit was at least five times greater than the previous recordholder, Bush The Younger. In the wider view, the republican party hasn't been demographically viable for at least thirty years. Ever since Slick Willy stole everything but the casual racism in their party message. Hence all the attempts at disenfranchisement.
Winter's knowledge of the US appears to be bootleg copies of american movies and whatever the ayatollah has most recently told him.

I feel for him, I honestly do. In the same way that our own american taliban has been made to believe that all of their troubles arise from foreign brown invaders, to the point that they act against their own interests, large swaths of the middle east have been indoctrinated into this belief in the Great Western Satan. A belief which is used to grow and maintain the power of local warlords who oppress those people that believe it.
As a former peacekeeper, this situation is depressingly familiar to me. I've had to re-dig alot of wells in my life.
