He didnt deserve to he shot, he was running away and as far as I could tell they had his car there. Unless they thought he was running for his car to go driving away again.
His decisions dont make much sense either. Get drunk, go for a drive, fall asleep and block a Wendy's drive through then start a fist fight with the police.
Then apparently some white woman decided to burn the Wendy's down.
It seems like a domino effect of people making bad decisions.

It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
