Damnatio memoriae. We did it with Benedict Arnold and it didn't erase him from history - it just made it very clear what we think about traitors.
One statue of a nameless confederate soldier tripping onto his own sword with a plaque that laments those americans who died for the hubris and greed of their supposed betters should suffice.
Place it just outside the grounds of arlington, as a bonus, with the figure reaching and grasping towards that place forever denied.
Round up the rest and send them to statue farms and civil rights museums...since that's the "history" that they're actually about.
