I have been a lifetime Washington fan. I know the history of the owner. I was talking about him, not you.
How is the owner not attached to this subject? He's been pressured for years long before now, decades in fact, to change the name. The fact it took other rich corporations to get him to do this is relevant.
He wouldn't have done it if those in his own class with power had not said anything. And I really am not giving Fedex or Nike that much credit either. If the Redskins had the same record as the Patriots and were winning Super Bowls year after year like the Pats have, not sure Fedex or Nike would be doing this now. But the Redskins suck and I think that played more into why Fedex and Nike did what they did in putting pressure on the owner.
I think we should change the name to the "Washington Atheists" and our mascot would be a barbecued kitten.
