I'm not claiming all Christians but majority and it's not just paintings that show this, it's also places like Lourdes where catholics bathe in magic water for god to grand them wishes - like God is a wishing well.
Like, look at the guy at 1 min : 11 sec who is trying to heal his baldness with magical water. And where could he and the rest of Catholics possibly get this idea?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
