Been slowly perusing the thread.
So a thought occurred to me.
Please correct any errors etc.
So..... given the qualities of the X-tian diety (Let us be as broad as possible so as to effectively include all denominations) everything in our reality, seen and unseen, is some how a manifest part of/result of or 'From' said diety. Yes?
So.... if everything that abounds is 'From diety' and it is not a part of said diety to 'Lie'.
Whence from comes falsehood?
*Ponders the inponderable which mayhap becomes really ponderous..... *
EDIT: Or.... is this simply a variation upon the 'Problem of evil' ?
I had a similar question about Taoism in my 20s. If the Tao is the ideal, and everything emanates from the Tao, then whence comes bad. I had a different answer at the time, but I believe the standard answer is that falsehood, and indeed all things bad, is a deviation from God's perfection, brought on by the separation from God. Augustine expressed this as bad being the absence of good. And the writers of the bible expressed it in the story of the fall. In short, bad comes about because the world is not capable of perpetual perfection like God is. I think in the final analysis, that answer fails, but I believe it's the most common one.
