El, I hate to tell you-er, no I don't: My stance is built out of experience, and it hasn't changed for twenty years. Flip flopping is for those with high ideals and no experience, patronization be damned.
Then hear it from me, who has dealt such "human trash" that you're referring to... including myself and people I've dated and people I've known. Not even remarking about the simulations I've been through regarding the matters at hand (you call them video games and imagination. Presentation is 95% of everything you feel.)
I do comfort a rape victim (my girlfriend). I also comfort myself. I might kill him, I might not: presentation is 95% of everything you feel. I might even fall to the ground a broken mess, not able to help at all. I would probably cry regardless, and I would certainly cry later. Epi: stop being a fucking asshole who thinks one has to experience something horrible to know what they'd probably do when it happens. You are not them... and your experiences do not make you THE almighty expert. Other people are not you... you are nobody to tell them what to do... nor are you someone to tell them that everything they've been through isn't worth squat because they haven't been through the same things you have. And I don't believe in human trash... even serial rapists can have a place in society. That doesn't make what they do 'good'... but don't suggest that anyone who's raped, molested, murdered, stolen, etc is automatically a continuing danger to society, or must be removed for the 'crimes' they've committed.

Have you played the game?
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
