You know what would have been a great way to clear up misconceptions about islam? If he could tell us all of the good he does in the world, and how islam informs him to do that good. Wouldn't that be refreshing? So many muslims could do this - but all we get are nutballs who think they can argue other people into accepting tyranny.
In the most generous assessment, islam doesn't do whatever it's done to this one to most people..but the same is true of any terrible side effect. If aspirin turned people into assholes at a rate anywhere near this, it'd get pulled from the shelves.
