Why do you need a shop vac? Mine is used almost exclusively for sawdust collection in the shop (cyclone-type system).

I did look but couldn't find it. I didn't want to waste all day trying to find it. 

I bought a shop vac because it was cheaper than a vacuum cleaner and I have very little carpet in my house. Shop vac works quite well on a vinyl faux wood floor. Great for dust bunnies behind the couch and behind the fridge and oven.

I saw the title of the thread, but that doesn’t explain why you didn’t get the correct tool before you started the job. Do you not keep all your tools in the same place?
