The United States is a country comprised of 1st Nations People (who tend to be ignored when one is discussing American culture), people who immigrated here, and children of immigrants. I, for example, am Mexican/Cherokee/Brasilian/Russian. When people immigrate to a different country, they do not leave their cultures behind. It is part of their identity.
I get the impression that when most people refer to American culture, what they are referring to is white middle class American culture. But there is so much more going on here.
I didn't find New Yorkers rude at all. I think it's an old stereotype. Mehmet, in America, rude basically means unfriendly.
That will never hold up in court...
