A friend of mine tried cooking his Thanksgiving turkey in the deep fryer in the kitchen of his bar.
The resulting fire destroyed the place - and he had been running for months with no insurance....

Yeesh, yeah, I'll be following the instructions and cooking in my garage probably, maybe my porch. I've heard the horror stories, but the guy that I saw do it cooked up three in a row with no incident. You just got to think about how much peanut oil will be displaced by the bird. I think most fryers have a dumb dumb mark in them as a max fill line, but we'll see.
