All this doctor discussion brings to mind two things for me.
One is how pissed my mother was when my then future sister-in-law brought a wedding announcement to show my parents and dad was down as Mr. He was a veterinarian - a DVM - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
The other happened a couple years ago when I was in a salon having a pedicure and some big-mouthed woman was holding court with everyone who would listen. I managed to keep my mouth shut as she regaled her rapt audience on why veterinarians weren't really doctors...they were people who flunked out of medical school.
