[Serious] Far-Right Extremism Is a Global Problem

I think we're in for a revolving door of enemies, for the foreseeable future. They'll be happy to start blaming the Muslims again, if it helps them do what they want to do anyway.

Plus, since Obama's "pivot to Asia," they've been working up anti-China sentiment. China is booming, and spending its money more wisely than the US, and the only way that America knows how to deal with competition is with violence. So we can expect more propaganda about China. The idiot rioters were telling the capitol police that the police were working for China. Just as MSNBC lied constantly about Trump helping Russia, Fox and others will be lying constantly about Biden working for China. It's a total lie, but it makes more defense spending popular, and justifies violence. Australia is getting pulled into this -- they'll have to hate China too, if they want US trade. (And I can tell you from personal experience: Beijing University students are unequaled in the world, and flying from Beijing Airport to O'Hare is like flying from the future into a third-world country.)

And of course they've always got Putin in the wings, ready to be the next evil genius, if that's useful.

All of it hides that America is far worse than any of them.

I read an interesting thing about Biden the other day. Back in the late '90s he put together a new security bill that would have made wide-ranging changes. Too many people objected to it then, since it obviously harmed civil liberties. Remember civil liberties? Americans used to care about those. Anyway, then 9-11 happened, and they renamed his bill "The Patriot Act" and passed it with practically no discussion. That was how they had this zillion-page bill ready to go within days -- it was already there. So they got rid of habeas corpus, they're able to kill American citizens without judicial review, etc. etc. Thanks Joe.

Now the thing at the Capitol happened, and Biden is promising widespread changes to domestic security. There will be a crackdown on domestic terrorism, and it will be popular because of Trump's riot. The website called Vox, which is vaguely sort of left wing, wanted us to have sympathy for the Black Lives Matter riots and didn't want the police to be further militarized because of them. But this last week they've urged that all the Capitol rioters be arrested and prosecuted. The no-fly lists are being expanded, surveillance is being increased, etc. And suddenly lot of people who think of themselves as left-wing don't mind so much, because the enemies are on the right. Suddenly we like the police again, and we don't mind giving them all the tools they want.

And of course "liberals" -- all but the most left-wing people -- are calling on corporations to restrict free speech now. Mark Zuckerberg and the guy who runs Twitter will be given wide-ranging new powers to delete and censor, and this is already being used against lefties as much as against Q-anon idiots. The merging of corporate power with government is pretty much complete. (The technical term for this is "fascism.")

No matter what happens, things only go in one direction: toward the military industrial complex.

It's easy to see. When the propaganda machine wants to invent an enemy, it has almost unlimited power to do so. When they wanted us to hate Muslims, people from all over the political spectrum went for it. Useful idiots like Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris influenced the people who think of themselves as rational. Fox and Rush Limbaugh did the same thing for less pseudo-intellectual people. And we see frequent posters here who chant it like a mantra, absolutely convinced that Islam is their eternal foe. Talk about sheeple.

Many religious people are not on the far right. There are left-wing religious people, also.

There are Buddhists and Hindus and Jews whom have the same bullshit conservative values of fear of others and oppression of females Islam and Christianity has.

[...]

There ARE conservative Jews whom have refused to sit on commercial passenger jets next to women, in the same context right wing Muslims force sexist clothing on women.

"Whom" is an object pronoun. You can't use it as a subject. The subject pronoun is "who."

"There are Buddhists and Hindus and Jews who have left wing political beliefs."

In the above sentence, the subject of the subordinate clause is "who." Using "whom" is wrong.

"Religious people are the ones against whom Brian is prejudiced."

In the above example, the subject of the sentence is "people," but the subject of the subordinate clause is "Brian." That's why it takes "whom."

In conversation and in informal writing, most people don't use "whom." (Only those to whom grammar is very important use it at all.) So it would be better for you to just stop using it at all. "Who" would be acceptable in every case, and a misuse of "whom" only calls attention to your error.
