Was Noah worshiping animals?
You know how it is: every good piece of fiction contains a disaster or at least the threat of disaster. That's why the Bible is filled with disasters.
In some Bible stories creating suspense when something one character does not want to take place and creates the suspense, and that rouses the interest of the reader (will he kill his child, will brothers recognize David, will Herod cut John's head, etc.)
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
