An ultimately fruitless question in considering the most urgent point of the entire Holy Bible - mankind's need to be reconciled to the Creator, the Almighty - through, and only through Himself in the Person of the Word of GOD, the Lord JESUS the CHRIST - to be saved from the law's judgment requirement for sin.
In essence, John 3:16... the good news!
John 3:16 may not be the most vile, hateful verse in the Bible, but it’s definitely a contender.

On the contrary, it (along with many other parts of Holy Scripture) are a selfless, unearned invitation for peace, instead of mandatory judgment resulting in destruction. Regardless of one's perception of the details... one must ask - who are the biggest beneficiaries of this arrangement? Wouldn't it be objectively expedient to investigate said invitation rather than summarily dismiss it to one's own detriment?
A huge human impediment to responding to GOD on His terms (and He is in fact the King Eternal with dominion over all things) - is pride and desire to have and do it "my way."
The Messiah says "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it"
Humility, faith go a long way... we are human and honorably created in the image of GOD Himself, yet terrestrial "dust and ashes."
