From their view, God is the foundation of knowledge. It's self-justifying - how do they know? God revealed it through special and divine revelation and therefore they cannot be wrong.
Theists usually use logical fallacies, like the one you mention:
Quote:God is the foundation of knowledge. It's self-justifying - how do they know? God revealed it through special and divine revelation and therefore they cannot be wrong.
That is called circular reasoning. So perhaps the question is how does one argue against logical fallacies? They said "God is the foundation of knowledge" but then which God? There is a God of Mahabharata for instance who also left "divine revelation".
So yeah it is a lot of theist shit (fallacies, lies, and delusions) crammed in few sentences so you first have to dismantle it and Discord perhaps doesn't give you enough room for it.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
