Operating Systems treated as a religion? (Linux)

Operating Systems treated as a religion? (Linux)
Hello all,

I guess this post is more about providing you with information.

The title seems strange so let me explain it.
I’ve been a Windows user for a very long time. Since Win 3.11.
I’ve experimented with Linux off and on again over the years.
About a year ago, I switched to Kubuntu.
I have seen cases of verbal vitriol (Is that how you say it?) coming from Linux users when I talk about a missing feature, sometimes I compare it with Windows, or recently, when I talked about a bug with Linux.

All I did was recommend to someone to have more than 4 GB of RAM if they want to have a pleasant experience.
There were some nasty responses such as:

“Please stop spreading FUD and ranting. Very little of what was said in your last post has even a hint of truth.

In fact, since it seems you hate using Linux, may I suggest you return to Windows where you can avoid all the issues you rant about. (sarcasm intended)”

“Nearly all of your post #22 is utter crap and borders on trolling. Pigs arse "you'll run out of memory with only 4GiB or 8GiB of RAM", about the only thing you actually got right was that it depends on how many things you have consuming memory.”

“Don't feed the troll.”
^^^^^This guy is calling me a troll.

and so on.....................

On my side, I was respectful. I explained to them that I am describing my experiences. Following that exchange, I performed more tests, I spent 48 h to test things out,  and I duplicated the problem with Pop OS 20.10. Then more hate is posted by these guys.

It gotten to the point that I reported them to the site admin since they were violating the forum rules.

THE LESSON:
When you critic Linux, when you describe a nasty bug present in Linux, watch out.
That isn’t the first time that I have received vitriol from Linux users.

I’ve never experienced anything like that with Windows forums.

ADDITIONAL MATERIAL:
This is a techy site:
https://itvision.altervista.org/why.linu...rrent.html
It describes the problem here:
“Memory management under Linux leaves a lot to be desired: under low memory conditions, your system may become completely unresponsive. This can be alleviated by certain user-space daemons like earlyoom. The issue is in 2021 many major distros”

I have seen similar nasty exchanges between users discussing Intel vs AMD CPUs.
