The reason why there is such resistance to acknowledging the factual basis of global warming is doing so would morally oblige those who are less likely to be negatively impacted by it, or may indeee benefit from it, to help those who will suffer more severely from it, when they would prefer to let other others  suffer, or indeed make others suffer, so they can benefit from it. 

To over hype the impact as the “end of the world” in which all suffers rather obscures the profound  immorality of the real reason of climate change denial.

The biggest threat to our species is a global nuclear war, and with climate change causing more and more extreme weather, that can and will disrupt life and hurt crops and buildings. That can cause internal struggles for resources within a country, and greater competition between nations over resources. Taiwan is just one example of the west and east jestering over it's status. Both China and the west want it for its resources.
