The reason why there is such resistance to acknowledging the factual basis of global warming is doing so would morally oblige those who are less likely to be negatively impacted by it, or may indeee benefit from it, to help those who will suffer more severely from it, when they would prefer to let other others suffer, or indeed make others suffer, so they can benefit from it.
To over hype the impact as the “end of the world” in which all suffers rather obscures the profound immorality of the real reason of climate change denial.
The operative word is "may"; the Antarctic Ozone hole was, for instance, not predicted, but discovered, the result of other research on the planet Venus. And, so, "Who knows?" The half-life of CO2 is on the order of centuries, and so, even if Humanity stops producing greenhouse gases, the full impact, even if such is catastrophic, may not be realized until a century or two now.
