The 40 was what the cable channels were reporting for the top charge.I was only repeating what I saw on the news. And there is absolutely no chance he will walk. That is a "technical" thing. Chauvin's lawyer will file an appeal as standard procedure. But to let him walk would be insane even if a "technical" possibility.
If he gets the maximum sentence on all charges, it would be 40 years if he's allowed to served concurrently. If he serves them consecutively, it would be 75.
So, he should still go to prison even if he wins his appeal? And appeals are not a 'technicality'.
