Just out of curiosity, do read every page of the Bible as literal reportage? Are you OK with taking it as symbolic?

I will give a short answer to keep within the guidelines.

No, nobody can take the entire Bible literally, it is not meant to be taken completely literally. For example, when Jesus refers to Himself as the door, He doesn't literally mean that He is a door with a knob and 3 hinges.
