All the ridicule aside, it seems that everyone tacitly accepts the reality of nonphysical intangibles all the time...from holes to things like authenticity, ownership, and honor.

And there's a reasonably obvious line between nonphysical intangibles, and physical things that seem to be intangible but are just hard to access with human senses.  

Never did understand that old evangelical trope "Have you seen the wind?", delivered as if it was some sort of "Gotcha, atheists!" argument.  You may not be able to see it, but it's pretty darned easy to feel it.  And electricity.  And very likely plasma as well (although I strongly recommend not trying to feel that).
