Your civilization prefers this version of things because it brings "fast and huge revenue"; but they never learn that after the fast revenue a huge depression comes.

Take the example of the interest-based bank system: for short years it brought the victors in WW2 huge revenues; now the depression started and old commodities became obsolete.
