I was really never exposed to much in the way of classical music. I think if I would have been when I was young, it might have become something I enjoy and seek out. The 'old' music I heard was the music of the Catholic church...nothing like a funeral dirge to turn a kid on to music...that's what we were taught in 6th grade so we could sing funeral masses. UGH
When I was a teen I hated Jazz and Classical Music. But a brief girlfriend in my early 20s I wanted to try to impress by trying to get into the music she was into. She was into Stan Getz. Took me a while to get used to him, but that opened the door for me for other jazz artists. And later on after college I briefly worked for a few years at a small old folks radio station, and on Sundays we had a hour of classical music in between live local church broadcasts, or pre taped. "Prelude to The Afternoon of a Fawn." was one of my favorites.
