What I find frustrating is my friends weak answer when I asked why he believed in god. He said it was because without god life would be meaningless!!! I find this quite insulting as I feel my life has plenty of meaning-in fact more so than when I was a catholic (due to upbringing). Why are so many arguments for the existence of god based on fear?
Hello and welcome. I advise making an intro thread... That way we can get to know you better and understand your situation.
But, to answer your question, it is because the whole thing is built from fear.
Fear of death. Fear of loneliness. Fear of insignificance.
