Because it's become abundantly clear that Huggy Bear needs someone to wipe his own ass for him, here's two peer-reviewed articles:

1) An article from the AMA Journal of Ethics explaining the differences between sex and gender.
2) The reference provided in the former, since they apparently changed the URL and didn't tell the AMA. It also has dozens of other references you can look into.

And, bear in mind, in the years since either article was written, there has been an explosion of academic interest in the subject.
