Gay Black Comedian Reviews Dave Chappelle's 'The Closer': "Gay White Racism Is Real"

The thing is, Huggy, that you have a spectacular knack for missing point. I don’t believe anyone in this thread has denied or disputed that members of the black, LGBTQ community experience racism and oppression, just as the straight, cis black community does. No one has made that claim. You made a vague insinuation that advocates of the LGBTQ community are motivated by racism, and you made an explicit claim as evidence; that no “white” LGBTQ groups spoke out against Ed Buck’s crimes which, for the fourth or fifth time now, unless you can demonstrate these whites-only LGBTQ groups and prove they weren’t part of the LGBTQ and ally coalition that called for Buck’s arrest, has been soundly and thoroughly refuted. Can you just admit you were wrong about that particular situation and we can move on?
I like Dave Chappell. I always have. I think he’s an intelligent guy and a comedic genius. I appreciate him shining light on the struggles of the BPOC LGBTQ community, because I didn’t really know very much about that brand of strife until recently. Sadly though, he seems to have a roadblock in his mind when it comes to trans people. It’s ironic that the narrator in this video mentions that BPOC deserve to be treated with the same nuance and complexity as the gay and trans community, and yet Chappell absolutely does not afford trans people any nuance or complexity in his set when he asserts in the face of complex scientific research concluding otherwise, that gender is a fact, and that vagina = woman. He continues to delegitimize, as he did in his previous Netflix special, the existence of trans identities, and this hurts the trans community, black and white. Period. Irrespective of what ever racial issues exist within that community.
So, why can’t we focus on supporting the trans community; white as well as BPOC; and also target racism toward BPOC in the broader LGBTQ community? Why do you see this as “one or the other?”
Is it because, like Chappell, you also don’t take trans individuals seriously?
