Don't ask the internet for advice on your fire alarm. If it's not a battery issue, it's a failure indicator. The tone should be lower and it won't have the same pattern as it does when it detects smoke. There's a super annoying way to test this which involves setting off your detector, resetting your detector with brand new high quality backup batteries...then testing the batteries charge when it goes off - as well as the tone.
But....... you shouldn't be asking the internet for advice about your malfunctioning fire alarm. You should have it professionally serviced by factory trained technicians...or replace it.
The sense is this post......I suspect might completely break Fernando.
Had a sparky install a hard wired one with a battery back up. This is in the passage on the mezzanine (?) of the split level house. The wall is open and overlooks the kitchen. It goes off if the grill begins to smoke.
This thread has reminded me that it's some time since I replaced the battery. I'm going to the shopping centre right now to buy a new one.
Having said that, I agree the internet is not the best place to look for informed opinions of just about anything which has health or safety indications. If anything, Youtube is worse.
However I think the internet is terrific for some things. I've found it most helpful finding information about say the history of christianity. Wikipedia can also be a good place to start because the better articles have lots of decent references. Overall, I've found wiki articles about which I have studied formally to give pretty fair overall view. I've always thought that was the point of wikipedia. Rather than as an authority.
