It's bleedover man. Things I used to think were completely obvious and take for granted have been proven to be my unrepresentative assumptions about my fellow man. To your point, and without the bleedover..and even though it probably does represent a comment on the sad state of affairs in american public schools..I'd be surprised if there actually were a book left in them which legitimately offends anyone, let alone for the reasons they so often claim. The nuts in question have never cracked a page, and don't know what's in these books, which, again obvious..is demonstrated by the content of their bitching.
We produced some of the most subversive authors in western culture...people who made it their mission to cleverly offend...but that's not even remotely close to what we're known for anymore. I was catching up on real time last night, and bill maher cracked a great joke. About joe bidens "this is the us of a, what are we doing, dammit" - because he was old enough to remember when it was weird to think of america as a giant fuckup.
