Somebody been lying to me?
NPR reports that there is no law in Michigan requiring guns to be locked when not in use.
I have taken the CCW class MANY times - once as required by law - and a bunch more when I sponsored groups to train for their CCW at my home - taught by a NRA trained instructor ( and retired County deputy) and it was hammered into us that we could be civilly and criminally held liable if our guns were stolen ( while unsecured) and used in commission of a crime.
As far as I am concerned - if they can hold you liable - it' s a mandate. You would be a moron NOT to keep your goodies locked up.
So? Nobody is claiming you are lying. I am saying if this is the case, then the laws SUCK!
Of course your firearms should be locked up and the ammo locked up separately. But if you want to claim your "goodies', which is a morbid way to describe objects that propel led at 700mph or more, you need help.
I am not going to claim that there is never a use for firearms, there is. Hunting, home defense, police and military. I am fine with those things. But to say that the far right, NRA or firearm CEOs are actually interested in public safety is a fucking joke.
In all seriousness OLB, if you are not willing to sell me a firearm, then you are a hypocrite. My point is about logic, nothing more. I am not for banning all firearms, they have their place. I have however, always been concerned with how easy it is to access them.
