He went on about it, and his response to arguments against the notion, at length. Attempts to launder his reputation as something other than a literal believer in a literal magic book rest on the hilarious bit of trivia that he didn't think earth was made in seven days. He thought it was made in an instant and not too long ago.
It looks like you took that text from

According to that site,
Once you tally the names (of the Church Fathers) up to the year 750 AD, there were well over 100 Church Fathers! The percentage of Church Fathers who believed that God created instantaneously rather than in six days was less than 2%! How compelling is that exactly? If the appeal to authority was to sway people toward the long-age argument through the weight of opinion from great minds of the past, having a full 98% of Church Fathers against you seems unhelpful to say the least.
^^^^^The writer is Calvin Smith.
I haven’t verified every single thing on that page, but if it is really 2% and the other 98% believed in a literal 24 h 7 days, then it looks like the majority are plain old YEC.
Also, according to the same site,
According to this text, Augustine of Hippo switched backed and forth between a literal and non-literal interpretation of the 6 day creation story.
When we say non-literal, Augustine thought that the jewish god created everything in 0 s. That there was no passage of time.
He was certainly not a OEC. He believed that the Earth is 6000 y old minus 7 days. That’s still makes him a YEC.
The site belongs to Ken Ham. The guy who debated with Bill Nye the science guy. The guy who built Noah’s ark in Kansas as an amusement park using government money.
So, these YECs are accusing a bunch of academics and such, who are OECs of lying to the public.
They are saying that yes, a bunch of them were non-literalist.
The part that the OECs aren’t telling us is that “Some of these church fathers believed that the jewish god created stuff instantly”.
So, the question left is, how many of them believed that the universe is billions/millions of years old?
