So, let's make sure we're having a reality based discussion. The us is not the wild west. Americans don't wander a hellscape where even 1% of us would need or be better of with a gun. We do not possess the guns we do, or the amount of guns our superusers who drive those stats possess, for any reason related to violence or crime whatsoever. We're collectors and we're sport shooters. Unlike much of the rest of the developed world - huge swathes of our country host nothing but game. Additionally, range competitions are a much larger market here than anywhere else, and not by a little.
Gun control as you understand it is a cynical ploy to rile up a base of voters through the victimization narrative of rights abrogation. It's dangerous here - but pathetic when someone from notheristan breathlessly repeats that nonsense. Even in country, it's not as if the case for rights abrogation is best made by current or proposed gun laws - nor is there any shortage of actual issues to contextualize and demonstrate that concern.
