In the past six months, the Arab press, and especially the Gulf press, published many homophobic articles, which presented homosexuality as a perversion and as a threat to society. They accused the U.S. and the West in general of pressuring the conservative Arab and Muslim societies to accept and even welcome it. Some of the articles warned that this policy will prompt the Arabs to seek other allies instead of the U.S., hinting at Russia and China, whose stance on homosexuality is closer to that of the Arabs.’
