If I stole 10% of the wealth from the 2700 billionaires on the planet and distributed it to the poorest corners of the world and improved their standard of living, would that actually be doing a good thing? I don't mean just giving them cash but actually building housing, infrastructre, health and social care etc etc.

Sure, lifitng people out of poverty would be great for them, but what about the planet? Not sure it would appreciate even more consumerism, extra need for resources and potential population boom / ageing populations.

Yes, and it would also help with climate change as it would be redistributing wealth from the most polluting to the least, and also ensuring that this lesser amount of pollution is going to a useful purpose instead of being used on pure waste.
