So, I’ve mentioned before that I like watching true crime videos, especially the ones that focus on interrogations (a la Jim Can’t Swim), and one thing I’ve found particularly unsettling about how the cops do things In these videos (specifically the ones from the US and Canada) is how the cops can tell almost any kind of lies to perps to get them to confess (the one exception is they can’t lie about the penalties related to confessing). So, If a cop were to argue that, say, the Birds Aren’t Real idiots are right, and that they’re just drones sent out by the government to spy on people, and that a pigeon managed to film the entire crime in question, a confession from a perp who fell for that, would likely still be admissible in court. Jennifer Pan wound up confessing after the cops spun a tale that’s only a little more plausible.
Explore With Us released a video on Susan Monica, and it’s probably the first time in any of these videos I’ve seen a perp actually point this out.
The woman is so unhinged that she literally shits her pants late in the game apparently just because, but somehow, she’s the first one of these criminals to point out “hey, why should I trust anything you say, since you can legally just talk bullshit if it can potentially aid in a confession.”
