One tactic I'm seeing more from Homophobes and Transphobes now is the idea of blaming them for the violence against them. Generally, they try and use the fact LGBT people are over-represented in addiction and sex work to try and argue that involvement in those activities accounts for all or at least the majority of violence against them. The issue with this is I have yet to find a study linking this as the majority cause of LGBTQ violence. A sub-argument pulled by people who use this line of reason is that involvement with sex work and drugs somehow means LGBTQ are not oppressed even though those are very activities one would expect an oppressed group to be involved with.
Another terrible argument is the claim that most violence against LGBTQ people is committed by LGBTQ people. I have yet to find a study proving this. There is the fact domestic violence among LGBT couples is higher but does this accounts as even a significant factor in the overall violence of LGBT people remains unproven as for as i can tell.
