Rcent Christian Movie Ratings

I'm a big movie guy.  I have the AMC A-List thing and see everything that looks even marginally interesting, since that gives me a shot at 3 every week.  The theater near me even carries a lot of the indie films, which is great.

Anyhow, I noticed something today.  I'll probably go to "Renfield", and definitely to "Evil Dead Rise" this weekend, since horror is my thing, but I noticed one that looked horror-ish from the posters opening this weekend called "Nefarious".  I looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes, and it currently has 25% from critics, but 97% from audience.  That makes no sense.  I clicked through, and then understood.  One of the first phrases I saw was "faith-based thriller".

It looks like this happens a lot.  I noticed it last month with "Jesus Revolution" and it's 60% (respectable!) critics, but fucking 99% audience.

I mean, I get it.  They're proseletyzing, since they irrationally think they are being persecuted and need to prop up anything promoting the faith that 70% of Americans already proclaim.   The audience ratings are akin to taking a poll about trump at the NRA rally in Indy this weekend - he can be as big a douchebag as possible, but still get 99%.  Self-fulfilling prophecy.  It just struck me as funny and dishonest, though.

And, for the record, not going to go see it.

You seem surprised (and weirdly angry) that Christians like Christian films. Not for nothing, but you should consider not sweating the small stuff.
