A private army that's worth a shit (this is not an endorsement of actual ability..I'm just saying that given the evidence we have I'd rather fight russian regulars than wagner even if the outcome is the same - one is just more difficult than the other). Everybody else in russia sees it too, hence the rush to create a pmc for everything. They're warlords, to a man..and I think that theyre going to do what warlords always do to each other, sooner or later.
The alternative explanation is that Prigo and his schtick is Putins approved escape hatch for blaming everything on...(checks notes) Gerasimov and Shoigu. That possibility is backed up by Prigo seemingly calling Putin a bitch and then backtracking and saying he was talking about someone else, even if the terms he used were very well known and commonly employed criticisms of Putin.
Like, if an american started talking about how "Shrub" was a piece of shit and then saying "why would you think I was talking about Bush2, I'm Bush2's BFF!?!" Gee idk, you tell us? Better yet, tell this man from the FSB eh?
