The grand thing about conspiracy theories is that they’re effectively immune to disproof.
‘Aliens are among us.’
‘Where’s your evidence?’
‘The government is hiding it.’
‘Then how do you know your theory is right?’
‘If it wasn’t, the government wouldn’t be hiding the evidence.’
‘But x, y, and z argue against your position.’
‘Those arguments are government propaganda.’
‘How do you know?’
‘If we were wrong, the government wouldn’t need propaganda.’
