The Black Cat (1934), on the recommendation of ChatGPT after I asked it to help me resolve a mystery that's bugged me all my life, a scene that has haunted me ever since I was a kid, from some old black and white horror film I saw, or maybe just glimpsed while changing channels, when I was young. The scene was of vats of white goo, like plaster or wax or something, with people emerging from them... very creepy.
Anyway so I asked ChatGPT about it and it not only pinpointed a film but also gave a plausible and reasonable reason why this scene would be in the film... but now after having watched it, there is no such scene
So it looks like yet another case of ChatGPT 'hallucinating'... or if not that, the scene has been cut from the version I saw... but why would it be? It's a horror film from the 1930's... there shouldn't be anything in it that needs to be censored. It's just so strange that it gave such a plausible description and reason why this scene was in the film, only for there to be no such scene.
Anyway, despite that it was a decent and creepy film, and had me more tense and on the edge of my seat to watch than most horror films these days, so I'd still recommend it.
