Just because a majority believes something to be true doesn't make it true. Atheism does not need to appeal to everyone, or a majority of the population, to be considered true.

Numbers aren't proof but they are often evidence.

A statement's truth does not correlate with it's popularity. Comforting fictions abound.

Instead I offer you a more interesting and durable test of truth. Truths converge upon the underlying reality. Falsehoods diverge from it. Religions schism hell west and crooked while atheism remains largely unchanged.
