The point on Ramapithecus was that it was once regarded as an ancestor of humans but is now known to be an ancestor instead of orangutans.
Australopithecus is the last known human ancestor, any species earlier than that is speculation for now because it is too old to tell. So far this has limitations, like we can not say which specific mammal species that lived during the dinosaur age is our direct ancestor but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
