The difference is 1973 started with a greater strain of leftist idealism in Israel which looked for and would have been receptive to compromises with Israel’s Arab neighbors. Today’s Israel seems to be dominantly an imperial state whose full scope of unbridled imperial ambition is only kept disguised by the lack of ability to attempt to seize all that it coverts at once.
